A year-round museum of the Historic Burke Foundation. Annual patriotic celebrations at the restored 1812 Charles McDowell House overlooking Quaker Meadows were 1,400 backcountry militiamen mustered on Sept. 30, 1780 in their pursuit of British Major Patrick Ferguson and his loyalist army during a pivotal moment in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution.
